CutPeak led the application and assembled the team around Berkshire East’s intense winter snowmaking load and electrical infrastructure that is underused for much of the year. The proposed system uses Inlyte iron-sodium long-duration storage to support peak-demand management and defined critical loads, with potential grid services when mountain operations allow.
The system is planned at up to 4 MW and 80 MWh, with commercial operation targeted for 2028. The awarded grant is approximately half of the proposed project budget.
Final ownership, financing, engineering, interconnection, contracting, construction, and operating arrangements remain to be completed.
